San Diego County Media Advocacy

The San Diego County Youth Council is a countywide collaboration of youth and their adult allies. Our campaign is called "Don't Buy The Lie" and will protest the false images presented to youth by the alcohol industry advertisements by targeting young adults and commuters-at-large in a select target area with youth-developed counter advertising. Youth Council members will work with adult allies to design print counter-ads that reflect the theme of mixed messages. The ads will be displayed as bus advertisements on 10 buses each month, in a cross section of bus routes that effectively compass the city. The second part of our campaign is a kickoff media event that will coincide with the day the bus ads begin running.
